Gambierdiscus excentricus

This video shows a single cell of the dinoflagellate species Gambierdiscus excentricus. This organism was first described in the Canaries in year 2011. The cultivated strain (VGO791) is held at the Harmful Algae Culture Collection (CCVIEO) of the IEO, in Vigo. It was isolated in the northeastern part of Tenerife, from intertidal ponds at the locality of Punta del Hidalgo.
